Crew visa upon arrival and other visa requirement in India

All crew members must come with valid Indian business visa or e-business visa.

Crew can apply for e-business visa on https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

Crew visa upon arrival can be made available at Delhi (VIDP), Mumbai (VABB), Chennai (VOMM), Kolkata (VECC) and some other airports in India with prior notice and approval of immigration officer. This would be possible only for active crew arriving on non-scheduled aircraft. Visa on arrival is valid for stay not exceeding 72 hours.

Crew does not require visa for tech stop, if they remain in transit (on board the aircraft) and do not go through Customs & Immigration.

Crew visa upon arrival is not available for China, Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq and Iran nationals.

Passenger Visa requirement

Passengers must come with valid Indian Visa. They can also apply for tourist e-visa On Arrival.

Passengers can apply for e-visa on https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

Visa upon arrival is not available for passengers.

Lead time for Permits

India Landing Permit

It takes 03 working days for landing permit and the flight can operate on the 4th day.

Exception is for PRC countries (ie China, Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Iraq)

In case of flights coming from China, Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, it takes 7 working days and the flight can operate on 8th day.

NOTE: FOR AIRCRAFT OPERATING IN DEFENCE AIRPORTS 3-4 WEEKS NOTICE PERIOD IS REQUIRED.

India Overflying Permit / Technical landing

It takes 01 working day for overflying permit and the flight can operate on the 2nd day.

Exception is for PRC countries (i.e. China, Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Iraq)

In case of flight originating from China, Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Iran, it takes 3 working days and the flight can operate on 4th day.

“The minimum notice period requirements, can be waived of in the following cases: Ambulance flights or Relief flights or Diplomatic Flight”

It is mandatory to carry tow bar on board the aircraft as push back is mandatory in most airports in India.

Slot approval is required for all airports in India.

Due paucity of parking space at airports in India, the aircraft can be asked to reposition to another airport.

Crew can be cleared on General declaration.

Due to paucity of parking space at VNKT prior parking approval is required. The aircraft may have to be repositioned to another airport.

It is mandatory to carry tow bar on board the aircraft.

Crew Visa – Bhutan

Visa upon arrival can be obtained for crew members with advance notice of 7 working days. Crew have to stay in VQPR if they obtain visa upon arrival.

Crew Visa – Sri Lanka

Crew can be cleared on General declaration.
